BBQ Chicken Recipe

This is a classic BBQ chicken recipe.  Using both the rub and the sauce builds in layers of flavor and saucing at the end prevents the sugar in the sauce from burning before the chicken is fully cooked.  Make sure you cook your poultry to 165 degrees F.

Ingredients:

  • Dirty Apron Chicken Rub
  • Your favorite Dirty Apron BBQ sauce
  • A few chicken breasts, thighs or drumsticks

Directions:

  1. Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel
  2. Sprinkle liberally with the Chicken Rub on all sides and give it a gentle pat to help it stick.
  3. Put the chicken on a medium high preheated grill and cook until nearly done.  Turning about every 4 minutes  Bone in pieces of chicken will take a little longer, just pay attention to your food and make sure you're not burning it.
  4. Brush both sides of the chicken with BBQ sauce and grill about 2 minutes more on each side.  If the chicken isn't done yet finish over indirect heat.
  5. Let the chicken rest for 5-7 minutes and serve with extra sauce on the side.
